Question posted on Yahoo! Answers: If it is true that the Devil may quote Scripture to his own ends, then doesn’t that mean that in any theological argument, neither side can use scripture to support their case since the other side may reasonably object that they are using the scripture incorrectly?
Posted by Allyssa Michel on FaceBook: this is not true, because the Bible says that Satan was in fact quoting Scripture, but he was using it to tempt Jesus. He was using it for his own devious purposes. To a point, Scripture is interpreted and can be misread, but if one reads the Bible with the guide of the Holy Spirit and quoted in context, then one is using the Scripture correctly.
