What exactly is a sin and who decides?

July 3rd, 2009 by DannyNelson

Question asked on Yahoo! Answers: What exactly is a sin and who decides? More questions on the subject of sin: Why does it matter to God if you are a so-called sinner or not? When you confess a “sin” – who or what are you confessing to and what qualifies them to receive your confession? How do you know that you are forgiven by God for your so-called sins? What are the signs for forgiveness from God?

God decides sin. The Holy Spirit convicts you and then you know its wrong. Your consciounce is God talking to you telling you whats wrong. If you question it, pray about it. God will tell you if you be still and listen to His voice. I always get revelations out of the Bible, God reveals things to you with His word. Other peoples sins aren’t my concern I am not their judge, except when I feel convicted that it is harmful to man and then I must speak out about it.

God has decided what exactly is a sin through His word.

It matters because God is holy. Any kind of sin God hates. God abhors sin so us as sinners is a big deal. We cannot live in His presence because we are sinners and that is why God sent Jesus Christ to die on the cross so that He may take on His people’s sins and be crushed by God’s wrath so that we may be cleansed from our sin so we may live in God’s presence forever.

God, in His word, tells us that He hears the prayers from the righteous (the saved) and turns His face from the wicked (the unsaved). If you confess your sins, you are confessing them to God who remembers them no more.

You will know that you are forgiven if you see God’s grace displayed in your life. The Holy Spirit will dwell within you and you know you are forgiven if you are convicted of your sin, you worry about your sins, or you have a desire to please God. This is not all but three things you should see.
