Do people really speak in tongues?
July 3rd, 2009 by DannyNelsonQuestion posted on Yahoo! Answers: Do people really speak in tongues? or is this an urban legend or something. And I’m not saying is it real i know its not. I’m asking do people actually try to? And Christians do you find this odd? Or holy?

Why are you so sure it’s not real? It’s clearly in the bible and there’s no biblical reason to think that it’s not entirely valid. I don’t find it odd and I do speak in tongues…

phunni,
Thanks for commenting. Can you expand your thoughts on the biblical basis for speaking in tongues?

Sure – although only briefly at the moment. In Acts, at pentecost, they spoke in tongues. There are other examples in Acts of speaking in tongues – Cornelius for example. Also Paul (in Corinthians I think) provides teaching on how it should and should not be used. Seems a little redundant if speaking in tongues was not something he thought was genuine… He even says that he did it more than all of them…
