My wife and I got our marriage license in Anderson, SC in 2004. We had a choice between two types of marriage licenses. The first was a "standard" license and the second had a legal feature on it that required the couple to go to counseling for a year before they could start the divorce process.

I believe that if you go into a marriage with those choices and choose the one that's easier to get out of, then you're doomed from the outset. Your marriage would be on shaky ground even before you say "I do."

Of course, my wife and I chose the license with the counseling feature. We won't use it, because we do recognize that our marriage is a covenant between us and God.
