I want to begin by telling you that even after much research and meditation I am still not certain that I fully understand this commandment. Like many of theophilux’s readers I “enjoy” a life of over commitment. I have uttered more than once that I enjoy being busy and I have confessed that I do [...]

Concerning the general principle of the possibility of the atonement, it is agreed and understood by all believers that the atonement of Christ had the potential for every single person in history without exception to be saved. The general principle of the atonement is stated in numerous places in the New Testament. For example, John [...]
Is it B.I.B.L.E- Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth? Is it a history of the world? The Scripture is God’s Holy Word. Yes, but what is its purpose? Think about that for a bit then read on. Scripture tells us of Christ. It is often said that the entire Old Testament points forward to Christ and the entire New [...]
What are you afraid of? I’m not asking a rhetorical question; please take a moment and consider your heart. What, deep down, are you afraid of? I asked myself this question and made a list of the things that , right now, are causing me fear. In something like three minutes my list totaled up to 14 [...]
There are many things in the deep waters; and seas and lands may change. And it is not our part here to take thought only for a season, or for a few lives of Men, or for a passing age of the world. We should seek a final end of this menace, even if we do not hope to make one.
I was in home group last night and we were discussing Hebrews 6 and 7 in reference to Christ being priest after the order of Melchizedek. Many fruitful truths were gathered from these verses. Truths such as the eternal priesthood of Christ, who allows into the Holy of Hollies. These truths bring joy to our hearts, cultivate praise on our lips, and encourage us onto good works. But then we began to discuss our opinions and theories about who Melchizedek was.
We have seen that the atonement of Christ refers to all that is involved in Christ’s work on the cross. He died as a substitute. He shed His blood as a propitiating and cleansing sacrifice so that we would be saved from our sins and be reconciled to God. The next important area in our [...]
I don't need to follow all of those rules. I can do whatever I want. I'm under grace not the law! Quit being so legalistic. After all, Jesus rejected the law. Right?
Before I begin today’s article, I want to take a moment to acknowledge two very important items that this day represents: Memorial Day - Take a moment to remember the sacrifice of life that so many servicemen and women have given to ensure our way of life. Let’s do everything we can to honor their sacrifice. Amanda’s Birthday [...]
I recently read an old Jewish saying pertaining to the third commandment: “When God gave the third commandment, the whole world trembled.” The reasoning behind this saying pertains to the wording in Exodus 20:7 “for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.” This leads the Jews to believe that [...]
The curse brought death. The curse brought about an end to permanence. Now, things fade, things deteriorate, things die. Chaos comes out of order. Our lives are cursed. Our daily lives are cursed. Nothing lasts, everything is fleeting. Before I was truly saved, I was crushed under the weight of the temporary nature of life. Things did not last. Enjoyment did not last. Happiness [...]
However you read the narrative of Adam and Eve, one thing is certain: sin entered the human race at some point. You may reject the notion of two actual individual persons created directly by God some millennia ago, but our essential nature is consistent with the story of the fall of man. We [...]
The Great Commission is stated in the gospel of Matthew as follows, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all [...]
Let us begin with a story. Around the middle of the nineteenth century there was a series of charismatic revivals in Scotland. It was during this time that a 15-year-old girl named Margaret MacDonald, on her sickbed, had a vision regarding the Church being taken away before a time of suffering in the last days. Soon [...]
This is the sixth and final post in the series “Would the Real Emerger Please Stand Up?” by C. Michael Patton. In this post Patton shares his own opinions about the emergent movement and the response of the larger (is it really larger?) Church to the challenges articulated by emergers. You may laugh aloud, as I [...]
